Rollin' With The Tide!!

What a year for the Alabama Crimson Tide!! This championship season brings back a lot of good memories for me. Alabama's last championship season was in 1992, my freshman year at the University of Alabama. That was a magical season and so much fun to be a part of my first year at college! This year proved to be even better. Starting with the undefeated season, and beating Auburn. Then the SEC championship and putting Florida to rest. Then Mark Ingram wins the Heisman Trophy, and finally, the granddaddy of them all, winning the BCS Championship game at the Rose Bowl!! All I can say is the tide is rollin' at 501 Lilly Ave!

So, back at the end of the regular season, when it started looking like Alabama's chances for playing in the championship game were very hopeful, my dad kept telling Michael if they made it to Pasadena they would go. Needless to say, Daddy had to hold up his end of the bargain. Monday before the game on Thursday, Daddy, Michael and Miles headed out West for a mini vacation of sorts. They started in Las Vegas at The Venetian. They went to the Grand Canyon, and the Hoover Dam, before heading to Los Angeles. They visited the typical LA attractions as well as The Reagan Library and Museum, Malibu, and the USC and Pepperdine campuses. I wish I could have made the trip, but as Georgia Anne told her teacher when asked if her Daddy had gone to the game, "He was given the chance of a lifetime, and he took it!"

They also got to go the Grand Canyon Sky Walk, a cantilevered, glass bottom bridge that is 4,000 feet over the Colorado River at the Grand Canyon West. It's funny because a lot of people start "panicking" when they get out on the bridge. Daddy and Miles let Michael go first so they could get a picture of him on it since they wouldn't let you take your camera out on the bridge. They said Michael just walked out like it didn't scare him at all. Well, when Miles and Daddy got out there, they were a little freaked out to say the least. It took them a little longer to make the walk. Notice in their picture how they are clenching the handrails!!!

They had my Canon Rebel XTi. The very first pic of the team at the beginning of the post they obviously didn't take.
