One Talented Daddy!!

I LOVE this picture! It just cracks me up every time I look at it. I must say, we have one talented Daddy, who can carry all of our many small children at one time!

Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum

Saturday we took the kids to Calera to the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum. Jack is obsessed with trains, so this was a perfect day outing for us. We visited the museum, which is located in a restored depot station. They have all kinds of railroad artifacts and memorabilia as well as an outdoor stockyard filled with old engines, passenger cars and equipment. We took a one hour train ride in a 1950 diesel-eclectic locomotive through the woods of Shelby County. For a portion of the ride, we rode in a passenger car, but then moved to an open air flatcar. We had the best time and can't wait to go back! They also run train rides with steam locomotives (they weren't running the day we went) and you can also ride in the engine with the engineer or in the caboose with the brakeman. Thomas the Train also comes twice a year, and they have special events for Halloween, Christmas and Easter.

Daniel at Five Months

I know I am over a week late in posting this...sorry! Little man is now five months old and I can hardly believe he has been with us for that long, but at the same time it seems he has always been with us. He continues to amaze me at what a good natured little guy he is. He rolls with the punches and is such a happy baby. I try not to take things for granted, and I am so thankful for my little family, my children and a wonderful husband who is the best daddy!!

Daniel rolls over both ways and can kind of sit up...he does for a few seconds and then tumbles over (he is getting close). It is getting harder and harder to change his diaper, because of the roll action. He loves to lay of his play mat, and especially loves the ball that hangs down. He like to hold it and look at it. He continues to love his swing....that is the best invention ever made! He also continues to eat...and eat...and eat. He can't get enough. We have been trying different baby foods with him, and we haven't found anything he doesn't like (except the meat, but who can blame him?). He has a new favorite...guava. It's funny because Georgia use to live off mangoes, and now Daniel has a tropical favorite too. He can even hold his own bottle now! He is wearing a size 3 diaper, and is fast outgrowing those. We laugh because all three of our children are going to weigh the same in a few months! He loves to hold his feet with his hands and even puts his toes in his mouth sometimes. EVERYTHING goes in the mouth these days, and we are still awaiting a tooth. He continues to love to watch anything on television. He will crane his head until he can see it. We have had to take the activity bar off his bouncy seat because he uses it to do pull-ups. He continues to hate his car seat and has perfected his signature move...the bend back. His best bud is still Georgie...he can't get enough of her! What a joy and blessing he is to us!!

Sneak Peek at the Tallassee Program Ad

Every year, the radio station buys a full page ad for the Tallassee Tigers Football Program. We have requested the front or back cover for almost ten years now and this year we finally got it!! They give the person who purchased it the year before the option to keep their space, and this year someone finally didn't renew, so WTLS will be on the cover. YEAH!! I thought I'd give you a sneak peek of the ad.

Now, Michael had the idea to take the kids picture and photoshop them on the goal post at the football field. I had reservations about putting this in the ad. He said it would be very catchy and have people "talking." I on the other hand, thought people might really think we put them on the goal post, and report us for child abuse!! I must admit the picture is pretty funny. I'm not sure how realistic it looks (I am self-taught at photoshop...so I'm sure I didn't do it the right way). The funny thing is, I told Georgia to come and look at the picture when I finished. She looked at it for a minute and then said, "I don't remember doing that." We laughed so hard!

Georgia's First Day of Kindergarten

It's official! Georgia Anne is a kindergartner! She started today at Tallassee Elementary School and did GREAT!! She was so excited about her first day of school. When we got to school, she went right in and found her locker and put her things away, found her seat and started working on a coloring picture. She waved bye to me and gave me a sweet, silly grin. I think I cried all the way to the car and then about ten minutes more. I thought about her all day and wondered how she was. When I picked her up, I asked how her day went, and she replied in true Georgia Anne fashion, "It was GREAT!!" She said her favorite thing was learning their class song, "The Rules of the Class." We're looking forward to a great school year!

Mrs. Dickerson's Class

I think she annoyed I was still there...that explains this face.

Last Thursday was open house at school. We met Mrs. Dickerson and took Georgia's school supplies. Before we went, Georgie kept saying, "I wonder what my teacher will look like? I wonder if she will have dark hair, if she will be short, if she will be nice.." After we went, I asked Georgie if her teacher looked like she thought she would. Her reply: "Yes. She has yellow hair like me, she is skinny like me, and we almost had on the same clothes. I think I'm going to like her."

McDonald's Play Date

As I mentioned in the previous post, I let Georgie pick something special she wanted to do each day this past week before she started kindergarten on Monday. Friday, she wanted to invite Emma and Taylor to lunch at McDonald's. Luckily the girls were available and were able to meet us for a last day of summer play date. Georgia loves these girls and I am so glad she has developed such sweet friendships!

Pray for us as we send Georgia to kindergarten tomorrow. I know in my heart she will be just fine, but I still worry and am so sad that her days at home with me are gone. I can't tell you how proud I am of my little girl. Proud she is so kind, thoughtful, sweet-hearted and smart! I am so proud to be her Mom!!!

Trip to the Zoo

Last week was Georgia's last week at home with me before she starts kindergarten next week on Monday. I told her we were going to do something she wanted to do each day! On Wednesday, she wanted to go to the zoo. So off Georgia, Daniel and I headed in the blazing 90 plus degree heat to the Montgomery Zoo. It was soooo hot that day, but we had a great time. It was Daniel's first trip to the zoo and Georgia had a good time telling him what all the animals were.

Daniel's first train ride. This is Georgia's favorite part of going to the zoo!!

The cheetah kept coming right up to the glass

The zoo had misters set up all over the park to keep people cool

And, yes, Georgia stuck her entire head under the waterfall at the river otter exhibit!

Tori and Bryan's Wedding

Tori and Bryan tied the knot Saturday evening!! It was a beautiful wedding and I was so honored to be a part of their special day. Congratulations Tori and Bryan!!

The reception was at The Trophy Room in downtown Tallassee. The Trophy Room is owned by Billy McKenzie and is a museum of sorts, where he displays his African hunting "trophies." It was the perfect spot for an amazing reception!
