Championship Trip

We were so lucky to get a chance to travel to Miami for the 2012 BCS Championship game a few weeks ago to see Bama take on Notre Dame.  Michael and I tagged along with Mom and Dad and the Tori met us a few days later to cheer on the Tide.

We flew into Fort Myers rather than directly into Miami.  We rented a car and drove straight through the Everglades on our way.  It was definitely something I am so glad I can say I have seen and experienced.  On our drive we saw so much wildlife; many types of birds and lots and lots of alligators.
We stopped at the Shark Valley National Park to take it all in.  There were literally alligators EVERYWHERE.  Funny thing is that when we first drove into the park we passed so many along the road (which small children were walking right past) that we thought they might not be real.  Well it didn't take long for us to realize they indeed were real and alive.

We took a boat cruise tour that was a great way to see the Miami skyline, Star Island, Miami Seaport, as well as the Miami Cruise Port.

We also drove down the the Florida Keys to Key Largo.  It would have been nice to make it all the way out to Key West but we decided the two plus hour drive from Key Largo to Key West wasn't really feasible for our timeline.

Seeing Alabama defeat Notre Dame was the highlight of the trip!  Roll Tide Roll!!

Happy Birthday to Georgie!

I can hardly believe that my baby girl is 9!  It seems like only yesterday that we were waiting for her arrival and here we are nine years later with this beautiful, smart and thoughtful young lady.

On her actual birthday we asked her what she wanted to do to celebrate.  Her choice: bowling and afterwards to eat at Sonic.

We haven't been bowling in a very long time so this was a fun outing for all of us.
Sadly, Georgie came in last...but she didn't mind.  Her competitive Daddy made sure he beat everyone and Jack was right behind him making sure he beat the rest of us.

Next we had to make a quick visit to the arcade located at the bowling alley.
She asked for a new bicycle for her birthday so we also took her and let her pick out a new ride.  Her new bike had the cutest pink streamers on the handlebars...which she removed.  When I asked her why, she replied, "They kind of look like a baby."  Tear, tear.  She is growing up (and I don't like it one bit).
See...she looks so grown up!

She had a big day on Saturday too.  Tori took her to Atlanta to visit the American Girl store and have afternoon dessert at the bistro.  She had a blast!  Thanks Toe Toe for a great day!

Sunday afternoon she had a Bama Celebration birthday party in honor of the Crimson Tide's 15th National Championship!

Finally, last Wednesday she topped off her birthday week with a trip to Birmingham to see Justin Bieber in concert.  All I can say is I am glad her Daddy took her.  He called during the concert and all you could hear were little girls screaming.  She was so excited because Cody Simpson and Carly Rae Jepsen opened for him.

Her reaction when Biebs took the stage!
